Plant Air Compressor Questionnaire

Designing a Breathing Air System: Air Systems' technical staff will assist you in selecting the proper compressor package as the first step in designing a breathing air system to meet your needs. The compressor styles and specifications listed below are for general information. Once a specific compressor package is selected, detailed information such as technical specifications and Auto-Cad® drawings will be provided for customer review and approval.

All systems are designed and engineered to be ready for immediate use.

Plumbing and electrical service is all that is required to be prepared prior to delivery.

Did You Know

It is recommended that after the initial setup of a plant breathing air compressor system and before workers are allowed to use the breathing air system, a certified laboratory analysis of the air quality should be performed to assure that the system is functioning properly and that the compressor is located in a clean fresh air environment.

Air Systems provides at NO CHARGE your first lab certified air quality test. Contact Customer Service for details.

Plant Breathing Air Compressor Systems

Electric, Gasoline, & Diesel Rotary Screw

Plant breathing air systems are designed to provide Grade-D breathing air for industrial applications. Remote air manifolds (POA's) are used at various work stations. The system pictured below includes our 135 cfm compressor, a 120 gallon ASME receiver tank, Air Systems' Grade-D filtration panel with our CO-91 series carbon monoxide monitor and a refrigerated air dryer. The entire filtration system is mounted on a steel fork lift frame assembly. This package configuration can be designed for most required flow (cfm) capacities and output pressures.

Low Pressure Ambient Air Pumps
for use with Constant Flow Respirators Only

For Proper Air Pump Operation always choose a constant flow respirator that is designed and approved to operate with an ambient air pump, UNDER 15psi. Specify the approved respirator coupling size when ordering a particular model pump that matches the respirator hose selected. Compressors MUST be placed in a clean air environment per OSHA 1910.134. Ambient air pumps are not designed for use with pressure demand respirators or Vortex cooling tubes due to low output pressure.

Portable Cool-Air™ Pump

All air pumps deliver output air temperatures ranging between 140-189°F.  The low cost solution to cool the pump's air is to order Air Systems' air pump mounted on the ASME Twin-Air™ tank/cart frame assembly.  Output air temperatures will be approximately 20°F above the ambient temperature.  The system has large tires for ease of mobility.  Each tank is supplied with a manual moisture drain valve.  A COOL-BOX™ can be ordered for additional cooling. These compressors are not designed for use with pressure demand respirators. Vortex cooling tubes can not be used on air pumps due to low output pressure.

OSHA REQUIRES CO MONITORING......
"For compressors not oil lubricated, the employer shall ensure that CO (carbon monoxide) levels do not exceed 10ppm." {OSHA 1910.134(i)(6)} Air Systems' CO-91 series monitor can be fitted to ANY ambient air pump.

High Volume Air Pumps

Air Systems offers large, high volume, oilless air pumps that deliver a maximum 15psi. These pumps operate only constant flow respirators.  Due to high output air temperatures, a small receiver tank is recommended to provide cooler air to the workers.  A six outlet manifold or straight pipe outlet is supplied as standard. Custom variations available. Call Customer Service for details and specifications. These compressors are not designed for use with pressure demand respirators or Vortex cooling tubes due to low output pressure.
